Escape to the sea

Part of my Children's book Module, we had to illustrate five versions of the same piece of text and the layout was a double page spread measuring 40cm by 20cm. This was just a half scale experiment (two 10cm by 10cm pages) to try out colour, paint splatters and layout. It turned out fairly successful though there are small details that I would fix when it gets scaled up, so I welcome criticism.
My text was:
"His grandmother gave him a jar of strange ointment
His Mom and Dad said
'It's just a phase'"
